SC 4-H Honey Bee Project

2022-23 Honey Bee Project Winners

Congratulations to Myles Margeson and Lance Papciak!  Thank you to all the agents who promoted, guided, and provided encouragement to their youth to participate in the SC Honey Bee Project.

SC 4-H Honey Bee Project

The Honey Bee Project is an independent study project that engages youth (ages 5-18 years) in the active role of beekeeping, learning the basics of entomology, and gaining an appreciation for the role of pollinators in our world. Youths receive a record book and project-related educational materials with registration. Non-members receive a 4-H membership and a 4-H t-shirt with registration in the Honey Bee Project program. Participants need access to a honey bee colony to manage for the purposes of this project. Bees are not supplied with the project materials. Participants are encouraged to work with an experienced beekeeper.  A valuable mentor can be found at SC beekeeping associations.

The Bee Cause Project has been a proud sponsor for the past 3 years. Our support enhances the programming through donations of bee-friendly books, t-shirts, tattoos, honey, and ongoing project support for each of the participants!
