Girl Scout Cookies Take Flight and Fund Sweet Venture

Girl Scout Troop #314 knows what they’re doing when it comes to the environment. These girls dedicate themselves annually to a new “journey” and immerse themselves in public service and education about their cause. This year’s project, “Earth and Sky,” in partnership with The Bee Cause Project, Troop #314 channeled their cookie proceeds into building a beehive in the Butterfly Garden behind the Joe Gawrych Baseball Complex in Mt. Pleasant.

Saturday, March 22 at 3 p.m. the girls’ hard work will pay off in an afternoon full of local fare, family friendly fun and the arrival of the Queen Bee herself. Tami Enright will install the workers and their queen later in the afternoon, but before then make sure to check out all of the sweets in store.

Throughout the day there will be a honey tasting, compliments of the Savannah Bee Company, sweet blueberry lemonade from Blue Pearl Farm and a beekeeper available to answer any of your questions about all things honeybee.
